The rod was only 20 dollars so its no big deal. But now I'm thinking maybe its the controller that is not picking up the magnetic signal. I bought a replacement motor and also this rod. This is actually better than i had before since it just blew the fuse. When i put the unit back together, again it only works in one direction. I found that this rod has a magnet on it and apparently as it slides back and forth, there is a sensor in the control box that picks up the position. When i cleaned it and put it back in place, slid it back and forth, i could get the gauge to show movement but very sporadically. I took the motor off, tapped it a few times with a hammer, connected it to a battery and it runs fine in both directions. Sure enough it was filled with water and all sorts of other cool stuff. I found some articles online and removed the VTS unit. I read that is is almost guaranteed to be a bad motor. I took the machine home and started the google process. I tried adjusting the trim and nothing happened. I felt like the it was trying to dive instead of the nose coming up. I just bought it a few weeks ago and put it in the water for its maiden voyage. I am new to this forum, new to jet skis and new to this machine.
